Opposition alliance’s running mate Faisal Naseem said that justice will be established in the police institution in an opposition government.
Speaking at the rally held at Maafannu-Hulhangu constituency on Thursday night, Faisal said that it has become apparent that the police are obstructing opposition campaign events. Faisal called on the police not to work out of the boundaries of the law for fear of job security or seeking a promotion.
Faisal said the opposition loves the police and aims to work closely together with them. However due to a small number of police officers, the whole institute has become devalued and untrustworthy in the eyes of the people, he said.
In an opposition government the police institute will be strengthened, sufficient budgets will be set to manage and operate them and it will be made into one that the people can trust, he said.
In another rally held at Male’, calling people to join the opposition rally on Saturday night, Faisal said that if a person is to be framed and imprisoned unjustly, the legal process and trials do not even take a week. However, within the last five years, those that were murdered and those that were lost without any knowledge as to the reason or their whereabouts, have not be given justice.
In such a small country there should be no reason why major crimes such as murder, theft and kidnapping cannot be stopped, Faisal said.
Faisal called on everyone living in Male’ and nearby islands to join the big rally by the opposition.
Faisal requested all to join the opposition and show their support, and not to fear the loss of their jobs and other forms of intimidation.
