A raging fire in a house in Thundi district, L. Gan, has been quelled on Sunday.
Speaking to VNews, a source from the island said the fire was put out by the joint efforts of the island residents and the military. The fire occurred at ‘Dhunfuniaage’ in the newly developed area of the island, the source said.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said they received report of the incident around 12:58 p.m. and that the fire has been fully controlled. While there were no casualties, the fire did substantial damage to the house, MNDF said.
Another source described the house as damaged beyond use, and stated that it is now uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is yet to be known, the source informed.
