A man who was swept out to sea while swimming in Fuvahmulah has been brought to safety.
An eyewitness told VNews that a 22-year-old youth was swept out to sea while swimming in Fuvahmulah on Friday morning.
He was saved by two surfers and another on shore, using on hand lifebuoy rings donated by Vice President Faisal Naseem’s Faisal Foundation.
The youth reportedly left the incident unscathed.
Seeking to decrease the number of drowning incidents in Fuvahmulah, Faisal Foundation had gifted lifebuoy rings and had it set up on the beach in Fuvahmulah, a beach frequented by swimmers and surfers.
As such, the youth saved on Friday was the seventh life saved using the rings. In 2018, five people swept out to sea in Fuvahmulah were saved using the lifebuoy rings gifted by the VP.
