The most promising Table Tennis player in Maldives, Fathimath Dheema Ali begins training in China.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment facilitated the 11-year-old athlete to carry out all her training in China. Dheema will be completing all her training under the tutelage of Chinese National team player Zao Yan (25).
Speaking about the silver medalist, who made the country proud in Asia Hopes TT Tournament last month, sports minister Ahmed Mahloof said they made the decision to finance all her training because Dheema has in the past, and undoubtedly will in the coming days, make the nation proud. He described her as a courageous and resilient player.
While Dheema was named the champion of the South Asia tournament early this year, her training was previously financed by her family.
According to TT Association, Dheema will be preparing for the World Hopes tournament in Oman next month and the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) in Mauritius.
Dheema, who had been named the champion of the Junior National Table Tennis tournament (under 10) in Sri Lanka during 2017, is the most promising TT player in the country.
She was also the youngest player to win the President’s Cup and the national TT tournament.
