Application has been extended for the National Art and Craft Exhibition.
After a 3-year halt, the Ministry of Economic Development has decided to hold the national art and craft exhibition on November 22 this year. The application date has now been extended till September.
Speaking to VNews, economic ministry's Senior Economic Affairs officer Musthafa Abdulla Ghafoor said due to various reasons they were unable to hold the exhibition since the last one in 2015. However, this year's exhibition will include all local products and feature many new aspects, all of which will be very appealing for the youth, he said.
This year's exhibition will take place in two areas, and will be categorized into six groups including individuals, islands, businesses, education centers, clubs and organizations, and handicapped people. Furthermore competing, selling and marketing will take place at the exhibition, Musthafa said.
The exhibition will take place at Dharubaaruge, and the region surrounding Dharubaaruge. Special events aimed for children will also take place at Kudakudhinge Bageecha, Musthafa said.
Musthafa further said due to the vast amount of interested individuals, the exhibition is likely to be a huge success. Application forms will be available from the economic ministry and the business centres in the islands, he said.
According to the ministry, the main aim of the exhibition is to find suitable markets for the Maldivian products in the sectors of Maldivian Economy by bringing the products out to the market. They also aim to showcase all local products at the same platform for tourists and citizens alike. Furthermore the exhibition will encourage people to appreciate the products that are going extinct and those new to the market, the ministry informed.
