The government has earned MVR 287 million via Maldives Customs Service during July this year.
According to the statistics published by Customs, this is a 2 percent increase from the revenue earned in July last year.
The government earned MVR 281 million through Customs in July 2018.
The statistics revealed that the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) for the goods imported into the country has decreased by 9 percent from the same period last year.
Goods worth MVR 4.1 billion were imported into the country in July 2018, while this amount has decreased to MVR 3.7 billion during July this year.
21 percent of the goods imported originated from United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 13 percent was from Singapore and China. Furthermore, 11 percent of the imported goods came from India.
The Free on Board (FOB) for the goods exported out of the country has also decreased within this period, from MVR 196 million to MVR 165 million. This is a decrease of 16 percent.
Meanwhile the most amount of goods exported to a country in terms of cost was to Thailand. 18 percent of all export revenue was from Thailand, while Germany and France were a close second.
