An international flight and a domestic flight has landed in Noonu Maafaru International Airport, which is set to be opened this September.
Island Aviation's Dash-8 Maruka plane landed in Maafaru on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday carrying the ground staff needed to prepare the terminal for international flights.
The second flight to land was a private airbus A3-20 jet from Dubai. The flight arrived yesterday afternoon with an advance group of 12 people to make preparations for a VIP group that will be arriving in Maafaru tomorrow evening.
There will be two flights, one domestic and one international, landing in Maafaru on Thursday as well.
Maafaru airport was funded by Dubai Development Fund, and was developed by Tuff Offshore Engineering Company from Singapore in one and a half years.
The government revealed last week that the airport will be inaugurated during September.
