Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has reopened vehicle registration for available parking spaces in Hulhumalé.
During the end of May this year, the registration of new vehicles in Hulhumalé was halted by HDC after the island reached the limit of available parking spaces.
In an announcement HDC stated owners or those with agreements with owners of houses, row houses, mixed residence flats, pure resident flats and others with garage spaces will be allowed to register upon submitting a copy of the agreement ascertaining the right to park in these spaces.
However, HDC said, for those without garage spaces, the previous policy will be followed.
The number of registered vehicles at Hulhumalé has vastly increased with the opening of the Sinamalé bridge.
Last March, HDC also halted operating permits for vehicles without garage spaces.
HDC informed that four-wheeled vehicles can only be registered upon proof of ownership of flats, row houses or land in Hulhumalé.
