Sheikh Hussain Rasheed Ahmed has been appointed to the position of Additional Secretary at Foreign Ministry on the counsel of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
VNews understands Hussain Rasheed Ahmed was appointed as the Additional Secretary last Thursday.
He had served as the State Minister of Islamic Ministry during former President Mohamed Nasheed's presidency. He also plays a key role in ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
The Additional Secretary position holds the same level as a Deputy Minister. As such, the foreign ministry currently has three individuals at the Additional Secretary position at the ministry. They are Ameen Jaavid Faisal, Ahmed Shiaan and Hussain Rasheed Ahmed.
Hussain Rasheed was also the former President of Adhaalath Party, which is a part of the government coalition.
