After receiving support from the Commission on Investigation of Murder and Enforced Disappearances for the investigation in relation to the death of journalist Rilwan, the person arrested during the operations conducted on Tuesday night in Addu has been released by the police.
The man arrested during the operations held in both Male' and Addu was Ahmed Agleel from Gurahaage, Feydhoo.
Police investigated the home as well as the clothing business owned by the accused during the operation. In the reports released Agleel was named for arranging the vessel used in the abduction of Rilwan.
Agleel was escorted to the Gan police station to take a written statement and was released after. However, his phone and laptop has been confiscated by the police.
The reports released by the commission shows a number of significant accusations towards Agleel. In addition, the first draft report by the commission states Rilwan was abducted and killed on a tuna fishing boat which was allegedly arranged by Agleel.
The second draft report denies the fact that Rilwan was taken on a tuna fishing boat.
The charges put up by the commission have been denied on all accounts by Ahmed Agleel. He informs he had nothing to do with the death of Rilwan.
