Two have been arrested from Ga. Vilingili on suspect of thefts from a residence and fishing vessel.
Maldives Police Services (MPS) reported that the two arrested were 20 year old and 25 year old individuals and the stolen items have been recovered.
The arrested two already have previous police records; the 20 year old has been been previously arrested on theft, violence and drug charges. The 25 year old has records of drug and theft charges.
The items stolen by the 25 year old were retrieved from the boat where he worked and his residence. He had stolen a fish finder, GPS and a satellite phone from a boat anchored in Vilingili docks. The laptop and the camera the 20 year old was recovered from a construction site, after reports of the sale of the items surfaced.
The stolen items were returned to their owners.
The Vilingili magistrate court issued a 15 day sentence for the 20 year old and a 7 day sentence for the 25 year old, pending an investigation.
The case is being currently investigated by Vilingili Police Station.
