Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) states that their aim is to increase student strength to 5000, by the year 2020.
He made the statement addressing the 2016 Graduation of IUM. He however said that the biggest obstacle they would have in realizing the goal would be lack of adequate space.
Dr Shaheem announced that this month, new programs would be introduced by the university and that their aim is to make IUM the best regional facility for Islamic education.
At the graduation ceremony held Friday night at Dharubaaruge Convention Centre, 499 students graduated from various disciplines.
Aishath Ruhoosha, who graduated from the Bachelor of Shariah and Law program, was awarded the much coveted IUM Excellence Award.
Senior officials of the Islamic University of Maldives, cabinet ministers and parliamentarians participated in the graduation ceremony.
