Villa International High School (VIHS) has conducted a career guidance program for students.
The program was conducted from 10:00 to 14:00 Thursday afternoon at Villa College.
In an interview with VNews, Principal of VIHS Saeed Ahmed said that the program mainly targeted students of grade 12, who would be graduating this year. The aim of the program was to increase their awareness on employment opportunities available across the country in various fields.
The program was a joint effort by various institutions including Maldives Customs Service, Maldives Red Crescent, National Career Guidance Centre of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Island Aviation, MIFCO, VTV and Villa College.
In addition to employment opportunities students were also provided information about higher education opportunities, especially those available via Villa College.
In a presentation by the Department of Higher Education, students were informed of higher education loan schemes run by the government and the procedures to be followed when applying for scholarships.
According to Principal Saeed, such programs are vital and the school will try to continue conducting such programs in the future as well, hopefully on a wider scale.
