The Southern Transport Link terminal of Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City, has been officially opened on Sunday.
During a colorful ceremony, the terminal was opened by Maldives Ports Ltd. (MPL)’s CEO Mohamed Junaid.
After the ceremony, Junaid observed how the service is provided and obtained residents’ views on it.
The Southern Transport Link has been established by MPL to provide land and sea transportation services in Addu City and Fuahmulah.
The region’s bus service was introduced in mid-July by Vice President Abdulla Jihad.
According to MPL, it spent USD 800,000 on purchasing 13 busses, out of which, 2 will be used in Fuahmulah.
Addu City’s bus service was previously provided by MVK. The service halted due to financial troubles.
