A Maldivian delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has left for Geneva, Switzerland, to attend the High Level segment of the Human Rights Council, set to begin on Monday.
According to the foreign ministry, Minister Asim will deliver a statement at the High Level Segment of the Council on Monday.
Maldives has served at the Human Rights Council for two consecutive terms, from 2011 to 2013 and 2014 to 2016. After a break this year, Maldives will be contesting for the membership for the 2018 to 2020 term, the ministry said.
Minister Asim is being accompanied on the trip by Director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shahiya Ali Manik.
