Maldives Beach Volleyball team has left to Bangkok to compete in the Under-21 Asian Beach Volleyball Championship starting on March 1.
Mohamed Rimaz and Hussain Shah comprise of the Maldivian team that is participating in the tournament. Abdullah Nasheed (Abulho), current Chairman of Beach Volley Commission, travelled as the team’s coach.
Speaking about the tournament, Abulho said the players competing in this tournament are very young, but play a good game. He also noted that this tournament will prove to be a great learning opportunity for the players as they are younger than 16 years.
Despite lack of height, Maldivian players will not lack skill, he said.
The tournament will be held from March 1 to 4.
Maldivian beach volleyball has been developing rapidly in the last few years. The notable win against China, proof of this development.
