There is now no option for President Abdulla Yameen but to resign, says former MP Abdulla Jabir.
Jabir was considered a close associate of Yameen but has recently been appointed as the advisor of former president and leader of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed.
In an interview with VNews on Friday, after the second arrest of Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim, Jabir said that he was saddened to hear of the arrest and that he is now extremely unhappy with President Yameen.
He said Qasim is a member of the committee which had drafted the new Constitution and therefore has in depth knowledge of the law.
He assured worried citizens that the opposition now has the parliament majority and that therefore President Yameen has no option but to resign.
