Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has extended its waste collection service to Hulhumale’ and opened up the opportunity to get registered to receive the service.
At a press conference on Sunday, Housing Development Corporation (HDC)’s HR Director Ahmed Fathih said WAMCO will begin waste collection service in Hulhumale’ on May 21, and requested the public’s assistance in ensuring that the service is provided in a sustainable manner.
HDC said, with the introduction of the service, the dustbins near China Flats on Nirolhu Magu and near Athletics Track on Hithigas Magu will be removed.
It also said those who do not wish to obtain WAMCO’s waste collection service have to dump waste at the site in front of Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
For the service in Hulhumale’, WAMCO will follow the same policy and rates as that of the service provided in Male’.
Charges for the service are: MVR 150 per month per house (door-step), MVR 100 per apartment (building services) and MVR 10 per litre of waste for businesses.
Registration desks have been set up in HDC office and Hulhumale’ ferry terminal. Registration process will take place for four days starting from Sunday.
In addition to Male’, WAMCO is providing waste collection service in Addu City as well.
