Starting from July, taxpayers whose annual turnover is between MVR 10-20 million have to file their GST statements and GST returns online, a tax ruling issued by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) stated.
According to the ruling, taxpayers with an annual turnover of less than MVR 20 million and more than MVR 10 million are required file their tax statements along with their GST Returns for taxable periods beginning on or after July 1, 2017 online.
The tax statements and GST returns have to be submitted via MIRA’s online portal “MIRAconnect”.
About a week back, MIRA published names of businesses in the tourism sector and Male’ region that neither filed their GST returns nor paid their GST for the final quarter of 2016.
Names of 82 taxpayers were published on MIRA’s website. These include: 69 in the general sector and 13 in the tourism sector.
