Maldives national football team won against Bhutan, 2-0, in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifying match on Tuesday.
Maldives team player Ali Faasir (Sentey) took the lead in the 41st minute, by scoring a penalty given due to a foul in the Bhutan area.
Ahmed Abdullah (Lily) put Maldives further in the lead by scoring their second goal at the 76th minute. This is his first goal in the national team.
Maldives lost to Palestine in the first match of the qualifying played at Male’. The next match of the group will feature Palestine and Oman.
Maldives team faced Bhutan after conducting various trainings abroad. While the team spent four days training in Thailand, they played friendly matches against Dubai and Afghanistan in preparation for the match against Bhutan.
