Father of Mohamed Anas, the youth murdered in “mistaken identity case”, says he wants his son’s killers to be revealed to the public.
Abdul Raafiu said this in a statement issued expressing concern about media reports citing the family.
In the statement he said the family trusts Maldives Police Service and that they would provide their full cooperation to police.
He said the family wants justice for Anas and for the killers to be revealed to everyone.
On Sunday night, police raided a house in Maafannu ward and arrested 12, including minors. According to police, those involved in Anas’ murder were among the arrested.
Anas, 25, from R. Meedhoo was stabbed 37 times inside Litus workshop in Male' by a group of men on the night of July 31. He died while receiving treatment at ADK Hospital.
On Thursday, President Abdulla Yameen revealed that Anas was killed in a case of mistaken identity and that the attackers mistook him for someone else because of the t-shirt he was wearing.
