Neeza Imad on Sunday resigned as Assistant Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), on the same day that her name was withdrawn for appointment as the new MMA Governor.
Neeza, who worked at MMA for 31 years, also holds the top position for a Maldivian in the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In an interview with online news website Avas, she said now is not a favorable time to hold the top position in MMA.
Expressing her sadness, she said that she worked in MMA for years without any trouble.
Also on Sunday, President Abdulla Yameen withdrew Neeza Imad’s name from Parliament after submitting it on August 16 to appoint her as the new MMA Governor.
The reason for the withdrawal was not disclosed, and President’s Office has announced that Ahmed Naseer’s name has been submitted instead.
