Tuesday’s Parliamentary sitting concluded after sending the day’s cases to the committees.
The issues on the agenda included appraising the nomination of Mohamed Hussain Shareef as the new Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, the nomination of Ahmed Naseer as the new Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), and on Maldives participating at the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), by sending the cases to a special committee for evaluation.
Before the start of the sitting, military guards escorted Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh and surrounded his desk.
MPs of the opposition alliance had begun protesting inside the chamber.
The opposition alliance has previously said that Speaker Maseeh cannot preside over the sitting until a no-confidence vote is taken against him.
The last sitting on July 31 also concluded after protests erupted inside the chamber.
