Jumhooree Party (JP)’s Mathiveri MP Hussain Mohamed said the government only displayed an illusion of providing swift medical assistance to JP leader Qasim Ibrahim, and that the permission to leave abroad was unnecessarily delayed.
Speaking on VTV Hussain Mohamed said much effort was put to show that the government gave permission to Qasim to leave abroad out of sincerity and concern for his health.
However the actions of the home minister and Attorney General are clear proof to the contrary, he said.
He also said some ministers have no integrity and will do anything which they are told to do by a certain individual.
“Go there, come here, do this, do that. Some ministers will follow orders given to them if it gives them job security regardless of how unethical it is. They talk with two mouths, only seeking to delude the masses. It’s all a show!” Hussain Mohamed said.
Hussain Mohamed said Qasim’s medical trip was too long in the coming, while the court had ordered authorities to facilitate Qasim to leave abroad swiftly as his condition was serious.
He said it is worrying that the state took two weeks to obey a direct court order.
He expressed happiness that Qasim is finally receiving treatment in Singapore and prayed for the JP leader's quick recovery.
