Military Hospital ‘Senahiya’, run by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), made the decision to take an extra fee for services from Sunday.
MNDF said they aim to improve the quality of their service by bringing high-level doctors from abroad.
VNews understands a fee of MVR 50 would be charged for consultation from Sunday onwards.
Senahiya had been providing services under Aasandha for the military, police, immigration officers, customs officers and their respective families, without charging an extra fee.
The hospital, opened five years earlier, treats many illnesses and provides some laboratory services.
