A Maldivian airline seaplane has crash landed in the water while attempting to land on Wednesday.
Speaking to VNews, an airport official said the seaplane was carrying people but no one sustained serious injuries.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said a total of 18 people travelled in the seaplane, including 15 passengers and three crew members.
The plane fell during landing, due to extreme weather conditions, he said.
The passengers were taken out of the plane through the emergency door, hence some sustained small injuries, an observer told VNews. The oil tank broke contact, when the plane hit the water, and the passengers have been taken to the marine station, the observer said.
An official of Maldivian said that they are arranging for the injured passengers to be taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital for treatment.
The seaplane, travelling from Niyama Resort to Velana International Airport, overturned once it hit the water.
The police and military working in Hulhule’ are active at the scene.
