Lawyer Hisaan Hussain said the European Union (EU)’s take on Maldives have become clear through their parliament.
Speaking at the rally held at Jumhooree Party (JP)’s main office at M. Kunooz on Thursday, Hisaan said that the points vocalized by members of EU has made it clear that Maldives no longer has an independent judiciary or follows constitutional law.
Hisaan said that the EU will take action against the heads of the government, and the issue can no longer be swept under the rug and ignored.
She also said that while there are many issues in the judiciary, there is no longer any freedom to voice them.
Explaining her statement, she said that the prints of influence can be seen during legal processes, especially from alleging to charging individuals for crimes, and in issuing verdicts.
Hisaan also said that it won’t be long before the people of Maldives see the change they are rooting for.
