Joint opposition parties have prepared to hold a mass rally at R. Maduvvari on Friday night.
The opposition said the rally is to begin at the island’s harbor area at 9:30 p.m.
Senior heads of the opposition parties travelled to participate in the rally held specially for Meedhoo and Madduvari.
These members include Jumhooree Party (JP)’s deputy leader Abdulla Riyaz, deputy leader Abdulla Kamaluddin, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s vice-president Mohamed Shifaaz, Adhaalath Party’s Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari, and parliament members of the opposition parties also joined Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth on the trip to Maduvvari.
They were warmly welcomed by the residents of both islands. The participants of the trip carried out a door-to-door event and held a meeting in the evening.
The opposition requested all residents to attend the rally which will be held on Friday night.
Meanwhile the Elections Commission had declared that Maduvvari MP Ameeth had lost the parliamentary seat along with some other MPs. However the opposition had repeatedly stated that the decision was taken illegally and hence, no member had lost their seat at parliament.
