Maldives Police Service (MPS) has requested media not to publish stories on their internal affairs, without first acquiring their comment.
On their official twitter account on Friday, police said some media are reporting news that would incite doubt among the public, regarding their disciplinary laws and guidelines.
Police said these reports contradict the guidelines set out by the Maldives Media Council as well.
Expressing concern about the issue, police requested the media not to publish such stories regarding their internal affairs without their official comment.
Police said this in relation to the news that was spread on media about the termination of Assistant Civil Officer Mohamed Shabeen Naseem, who spoke about the dismissal of Chief Superintendent Mohamed Riyaz.
