Central Bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) is set to conduct their annual survey on December 22, to evaluate the expense habits of Maldivian travelers while abroad.
In a press release, MMA stated that they will conduct ‘Maldivians Travelling Abroad Survey’ from December 22 to 28 at the arrival hall of Velana International Airport.
The survey aims to determine the spending patterns of locals while abroad.
These include the reason for travel, food, accommodation, ticket, medical, and other information about the destination.
MMA said, since these are personal information, they would keep the survey information strictly confidential.
MMA also requested all Maldivians travelling in this time frame to give their full cooperation for the survey.
Past surveys show that Maldivians mostly travel to Sri Lanka, and that on average each traveler spends a minimum of USD 500 during the trip.
