Tourism minister Moosa Zameer says government will propose a bill to the parliament next year with the aim of protecting the rights of air passengers.
In his address on the occasion of International Civil Aviation Day, marked on December 7, Zmeer said that government is carrying out efforts to guarantee the rights of air travellers and that a relevant bill will be proposed to the parliament next year. He added that it would enhance the sector’s legal framework.
Noting that air travellers are increasing year after year, the tourism minister said that, like other sectors, civil aviation sector is also developing.
Highlighting that increasing air travellers is a target of the current administration, Zameer said that opening of new airports in various parts of the country would expand the air transportation network, and would create new avenues for international flights.
Zameer has previously said that by the end of the current term of President Abdulla Yameen, the country will have 21 domestic airports.
