Health Protection Agency (HPA), in association with Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has inaugurated a dengue prevention campaign targeting Male' region.
The campaign was inaugurated by health minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, during a ceremony held at Hulhumale’ on Saturday.
HPA said, as dengue cases increase around this time every year, the campaign is aimed at solving the problem. Under the campaign, 12 areas of Hulhumale’ that are potential mosquito breeding grounds will be checked and chlorinated, HPA said.
Speaking at the campaign launching ceremony, Minister Nazim urged everyone to take precautionary measures well in advance to prevent diseases. He added that if every individual fulfilled their responsibilities, Maldivian society will become healthy.
In addition to HPA and HDC, other state institutions are taking part in the campaign.
