Bangladesh police have reopened the investigation into the death of 21-year-old Maldivian model and medical student Raudha Athif.
In October last year, Bangladesh police concluded that Raudha’s death was a suicide resulting from a fight with her boyfriend.
According to Bangladeshi news outlets, they reopened the investigation following a court order. The news outlets report that investigation was reopened on December 23. This time the investigation is being conducted by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Investigation officer Alamgir Hossain has reportedly visited the site where the incident occurred and has spoken to witnesses.
The previous investigation was conducted by Bangladesh’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Raudha’s body was exhumed and a second autopsy was done, but CID concluded that it was a suicide.
Raudha was found hanged on March 29, 2017, in her hostel room and was buried after an autopsy was done by doctors at the Islami Bank Medical College in rAjshahi where she was studying.
