Maldives Police Service (MPS) has released Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla, arrested under the State of Emergency on Sunday, after confiscating his phone.
MP Mohamed Abdulla was arrested and taken to Dhoonidhoo on Sunday.
He was arrested on allegations of attempting to bribe government heads and was later released after having his phone confiscated. The MP was given summons to present himself at the police station at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Some witnesses told VNews that he was arrested at Buruzu Magu, by police in casual clothes. However VNews was unable to get a statement from police regarding this.
MP Mohamed Abdulla is very active on the reform work. He has been arrested on numerous occasions previously as well.
Meanwhile, VNews has learned that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s Naifaru Council President Mohamed Karim was also arrested under the State of Emergency.
