Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has called on the people to vigilantly raise their voices and call for the arrest of President Abdulla Yameen and Speaker of Parliament Abdulla Maseeh.
In a tweet on Friday, Qasim said the people have to raise their voices against the unlawful actions carried out by President Yameen and Speaker Maseeh. The citizens have to go out and call for the arrest of President Yameen and Maseeh within hearing distance of police and military, and call them to promptly carry out investigations against the duo, Qasim said.
Qasim said the police and military should hear the people speak out against the un-Islamic things said by President Yameen. The security forces should arrest the President and Speaker rather than arresting the people of the country and putting them in jail, he said.
While the opposition parties celebrated the large number of protestors who joined their rally on Friday night as a great victory for them, Qasim emphasized that the security forces will remain vigilant in protecting the nation and its citizens.
Qasim said he appeals all citizens to remain steadfast on the truth. Except for 60 officers, the rest of the police force is with the people of the country, hence everyone should continue to speak against the unlawful actions of President Yameen and Speaker Maseeh, Qasim said.
Qasim had appealed the people to participate in the opposition rally held on Friday night.
Although Qasim had been calling on the people to use their rights given by the constitution, he had also advised them not to violate any laws while doing it.
