Sana Qasim, daughter of Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, says her father and younger brother, Siyad Qasim, have done nothing wrong and that their only “crime” is not supporting President Abdulla Yameen.
Addressing the Joint Opposition rally near Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) campaign site on Friday, Sana said that her younger brother, Siyad, is being detained even though he has done nothing wrong.
She said that her father would not violate the law and that the punishment indented for him is being given to Siyad because her father is currently abroad due to his ill health.

She said that the family is in great distress due to the punishment being given to Siyad, who is innocent.
“This is a huge grief for our family. My father’s “fault” is not supporting Yameen.”
Sana said that the people have to say “no” to government’s cruelty and unjustness.
