ADK Hospital says only two victims out of the eight injured during the Thursday’s speedboat collision are still being treated at the hospital.
Speaking to VNews, the hospital’s managing director Ahmed Afaal said eight people, injured in the speedboat collision 6 miles from K. Gulhi, were taken to ADK Hospital. These include seven expatriates and a local. One of the expatriates, native to Bangladesh, had died while receiving treatment at the hospital on Thursday night, Afaal said.
Afaal said five victims were treated and released last night, while two are still being treated. Their condition is getting better, he said.
The collision took place between two speedboats of Ithaafushi Resort, speedboat 5 and speedboat 3, about 6 miles from K. Gulhi. One of the captains, Ahmed Mohamed (37) of Kiswa, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, went missing, and was later found dead.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said his body was found along with the speedboat’s steering wheel 45 meters below surface by their team of divers.
The body of the deceased was brought to Male’, taken to ADK Hospital and handed over to the family. His burial was held at Aasaharaa Mosque after Magrib Prayer on Friday.
According to ADK Hospital, the victims include nationals from the Philippines and Pakistan.
