Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) says they have searched an area of 29 nautical miles for the two boys who went missing after being swept out to sea by a massive wave on April 21, but they are yet to be found.
MNDF had been working tirelessly to find the two boys since they went missing in Hithadhoo, Addu City last Saturday.
Ali Fahumy (17) of Chanbeyleege, Hithadhoo and Mayaamin Ali (14) of Topaz, Hithadhoo have been missing since Saturday.
The search is being conducted via air and sea, while teams of divers and a robot were also used to search 29.7 nautical miles.
MNDF’s media officer Captain Ibrahim Azim said they are still hopeful that the children will be found and the search continues today as well.
Other than the pair of shorts worn by Ali Fahumy, which was found on the reef near Hithadhoo beach side, there has been no other sign of the boys.
