Famous singer Umar Zahir has signed for Jumhooree Party (JP) at a special ceremony held at the party’s main office, M. Kunooz on Saturday night.
Along with Umar Zahir, Chief Inspector Hussain Amuru, who formerly worked as a DNA Analyst at Maldives Police Service (MPS), and lecturer of law Ibrahim Haafiz also signed for JP at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, JP’s deputy leader Abdulla Kamaaluddin said it is heartening to see experienced and academic individuals joining the party. The increase in those who join the party is a result of the effort put forth by party leader Qasim Ibrahim and its members, he said.
Noting that their aim should be to further strengthen the party, Abdulla Kamaaluddin requested members to work towards proving that the party is capable of governing the country and that it is one which would provide every opportunity for the people’s well-being and development.
“I believe it should be our first priority to work to strengthen the party. To prove that Jumhooree Party is capable of establishing a government that will successfully govern the country. Most people choosing JP is the result of the work carried out by the party in the past”, Abdulla Kamaaluddin said.
Abdulla Kamaaluddin, who served the State for a great period, called on more people to join the party.
The ceremony was attended by senior members of JP and council members. After the ceremony a special tarawees meal, organized by the party’s womens league, was held for attendees.
